Abstract

Over the past decade, artificial intelligence has woven its way into the fabric of our daily lives, touching everything from personalized recommendations to medical diagnoses, recognition systems, and data analytics. Ai has become so widespread that it is shaping how we interact with technology and each other. Yet, as AI's technical capabilities have surged forward, its ethical and regulatory framework has struggled to keep pace. This lag has given rise to a host of ethical dilemmas, from biased algorithms to privacy breaches and social manipulation.
In this talk, is presented an overview of the major AI ethics issues from an engineering perspective. In particular we delve into bias, fairness and regulatory considerations, highlighting the pivotal role of AI developers in the discussion and development of safe, ethical and fair AI.
