Similarity and preference query processing

Research in this area deals with models and efficient techniques for the resolution of queries based on the concepts of similarity and/or user preferences.

Such queries are typical of non-conventional databases and require different, specialized techniques for determining the results to be returned to the user. For this we might also need to take into account concepts of impreciseness/vagueness, context-awareness, uncertain/probabilistic data, and approximation of the results.
